MLB GMs will now begin to build their teams like the royals. Agree? or Disagree?

The royals have found an interesting way to build their team. After back to back trips to the world series winning one of them, I believe GM's around the league will begin to take notice and maybe copy this format. I would call it more successful than moneyball since they won the world series, although they only had one player making over $10 million. They were 16th in the league in payroll at around $110 million. The magic really is not what they did with the payroll, it was how the team was structured.

It the MLB these days you gotta have catcher playing at the top of his game especially behind the plate. Look the last few teams that won the world series and who their catchers were. Buster Posey, Yadier Molina, Carlos Ruiz, Jorge Posada, and Jason Varitek are all catchers who have won world series titles in the last 10 years. You can now add this guy Salvador Perez to that list. I believe he is the major reason why this team is as good as they have been the last 2 seasons. They don't have the best starting rotation they one the best bullpens in baseball. They struck out less than any other team in the majors. They don't have a guy that is slated to hit 30+ homers and 100+ RBI's. every guy in the lineup can put the ball in play and run the bases well. The position players are above average defensively at their position. In a nutshell the royals are a put the ball in play, good fielding with good back end pitching.

The beauty of it is the team looks like it will stay together for the most part. Alex Gordon and Alex Rios are free agents this winter. I think they make a real effort to get gordon back and let Rios walk.

MLB GMs will now begin to build their teams like the royals. I would not be surprised if MLB GM's begin to copy this format from the Royals. Agreed
