Capitals And Wizards To Move To North Virginia
The Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards are currently on track to move to Northern Virginia. The news was made public by Virginia's governor Gov. Glenn Youngkin.
"This is the most visionary sports and entertainment development in the world. The Commonwealth will now be home to two professional sports teams, a new corporate headquarters, and over 30,000 new jobs, this is monumental," - Gov. Glenn Youngkin
The move is expected to occur in 2028 when a $2 billion entertainment complex is being built in Alexandria, Virginia. The primary reason for the relocation is the aging Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. and the potential for a more modern and fan-friendly facility in Virginia.
The deal is still tentative and requires approval from both D.C. and Virginia officials.
