Argentina Wins the 2022 World Cup In A Thriller

 

Argentina holds off the defending World Cup champion France to win the 2022 World Cup. The game ended in a penalty shootout in favor of Argentina 4-2. 

This World Cup victory gives Argentina their 3rd overall and it's first since World Cup 1986. 

Lionel Messi who is considered to be the best soccer player in the world has finally gotten a World Cup victory on his resume. At 35 years of age, it is unclear if Messi will compete in the 2026 World Cup hosted by North America.
