The Phillies Sign Pitcher Drew Smyly

The Philadelphia Phillies signed starting pitcher Drew Smyly to a minor league contract. Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said Smyly will be added to the starting rotation and Nick Pivetta will move to the bullpen.

The Phillies have desperately need pitching in the 2019 season. It is unlikely that the Phillies will trade for a pitcher an expiring contract so Drew Smyly is their way of addressing their pitching problem. 

Smyly has a career record of 32-32 with a 4.13 ERA.
