Patrick Mahomes Signs Historic $504.75 Million Restructured Deal With Chiefs Through 2033

Kansas City locks in its franchise quarterback with the NFL’s first half-billion-dollar contract as the three-time Super Bowl champion continues his recovery from a season-ending knee injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have agreed to a landmark restructured contract extension that keeps the face of the franchise in Kansas City through the 2033 season.

The deal is valued at $504.75 million in base compensation, with incentives and escalators that could push the total value to $522.25 million. It marks the first contract in NFL history to exceed half a billion dollars.

Details Of The Deal

The new agreement adds two years to Mahomes’ existing contract and carries an average annual value of approximately $63.1 million. The first four years of the reworked deal are fully guaranteed.

This extension builds on the 10-year, $450 million contract Mahomes originally signed in 2020. It comes after multiple rounds of restructuring that have become an annual offseason ritual for the Chiefs to manage salary-cap flexibility while rewarding their superstar.

Chiefs Chairman Clark Hunt called Mahomes an “iconic figure” who has led the team to five Super Bowl appearances and three titles. General Manager Brett Veach described the agreement as a “landmark” pact to build the team’s future around its franchise quarterback.

Mahomes Legacy

Since taking over as starter in 2018, Mahomes has thrown for nearly 36,000 yards, earned six Pro Bowl selections, and won three Super Bowls in five appearances. His combination of elite arm talent, improvisational ability, and winning pedigree has made him the standard for the modern NFL quarterback.

This record-setting extension ensures that standard will remain in Kansas City for the foreseeable future.
Bottom line: The Chiefs have once again used contract creativity to keep their superstar happy and the roster flexible.

For Mahomes, it’s another massive payday and long-term commitment from the only organization he has ever known. For Chiefs Kingdom, it’s a clear signal that the window for contention remains wide open.
