James Harden's Restaurant in Houston Closes Due To Financial Troubles

The upscale Midtown Houston restaurant owned by NBA star James Harden has shut its doors. Located at 1911 Bagby Street, the restaurant was locked out by its landlord due to $2.2 million in delinquent rent and other lease-related debts, according to a notice posted on the premises on September 3, 2025. This closure comes on the heels of a wrongful death lawsuit filed against the restaurant, adding to its challenges.

The landlord changed the locks, barring access to the premises until the debt is cleared. Attempts to contact Thirteen’s management for comment were unsuccessful. The restaurant’s social media accounts remain active, and OpenTable continues accepting reservations as of September 3, 2025.

Harden was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Brooklyn Nets in 2021, shortly after Thirteen’s opening. The NBA all-star now plays for the Los Angeles Clippers. The restaurant outlasted his tenure with the Rockets, but the financial strain of maintaining an upscale venue in a competitive market may have proven too great.
