NFL Player Buster Skrine Arrested For Scammming Woman On Dating Apps
Former NFL cornerback Darryl "Buster" Skrine was arrested in Roswell, Georgia, accused of orchestrating an elaborate fraud scheme that targeted women he met on dating platforms. The 36-year-old retired athlete faces 18 charges related to financial exploitation, with authorities alleging he scammed at least three victims out of approximately $300,000 to fund a lavish lifestyle.
According to the Roswell Police Department, Skrine connected with women through popular online dating apps. He reportedly fabricated stories about being in financial distress, convincing his victims to provide him with money under the false promise of repayment from his NFL retirement benefit accrued during his professional football career. Instead of repaying the funds, Skrine allegedly used the money for personal extravagances, including Airbnb rentals, travel expenses, and gift cards.
Skrine was taken into custody at his home on Pine Grove Road in Roswell without incident. He is currently being held by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. The charges against him include multiple counts of deposit account fraud, identity fraud, financial transaction card fraud, theft by taking, and criminal attempt to commit theft. These accusations stem from his alleged misuse of victims' financial information and funds.
