Russell Okung Gets Paid In Bitcoins

 Carolina Panthers offensive linemen Russell Okung has confirmed that he will get half of his 2020 salary in Bitcoins.

Okung is contracted to make $13 million in the 2020 season. The Panthers partnered with the Bitcoin platform Zap in order to split Okung's 2020 salary. Russell will get $6.5 million of his salary in bitcoins. This will make him the first player from any major U.S. sports league to receive a salary via Bitcoin. 

Based on the current value of Bitcoin, $6.5 million is about 241 bitcoins.
